A native of Dawson Creek, B.C., Charles Demuynck is the founding Artistic Director of Masterworks of Oakville. Under his vision and guidance, our extraordinarily enthusiastic and talented musicians have grown and excelled as one of the most prolific community choirs in the region.
Beginning his musical career with a doctorate in conducting from the Hartt School in Hartford, Connecticut, Charles went on to obtain conducting degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore and the University of Toronto to further hone his skills as a musician.
Before taking over as Music Director of the Oakville Chamber Orchestra, Charles guest conducted extensively across Europe and the United States alongside a range of Canadian orchestras. His rich experience brings a thorough understanding of musical theory and the performing arts, allowing him to successfully curate performances to celebrate the classical traditions in a way that compliments the talent of our chorus.
Beyond conducting, he is an accomplished composer whose works have been performed across North America, with a CD under the Americus label with pianist Gamet Ungar and the Vama Philharmonic.
