Our Conductor
A native of Dawson Creek, B.C., Charles Demuynck is the founding Artistic Director of Masterworks of Oakville. Under his vision and guidance, our extraordinarily enthusiastic and talented musicians have grown and excelled as one of the most prolific community choirs in the region.
Charles holds degrees in conducting from the University of Toronto and Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. His final conducting degree was a doctorate from the Hartt School, University of Hartford, Connecticut.
Before taking over as Music Director of the Oakville Chamber Orchestra, Charles guest conducted extensively across Europe and the United States alongside a range of Canadian orchestras. His rich experience brings a thorough understanding of musical theory and the performing arts, allowing him to successfully curate performances to celebrate the classical traditions in a way that compliments the talent of our chorus.
Beyond conducting, he is an accomplished composer whose works have been performed across North America. His CD under the Americus label with pianist Gamet Ungar and the Vama Philharmonic of Brahms’ Piano Concerto #2, has received critical acclaim.
